Description
Between 1948 to 1952 the German authorities commissioned Karosserie 'Hebmüller' to build a 4 door cabriolet version of the Beetle. Named the Type 18-A 4-door these vehicles were used by German police as border patrol vehicles using 4 doors to allow upto 4 personal in and out of the vehicle quickly, fitted with canvas doors and hood but no windows. Wooden flooring allowed water and mud to drop through and out of the vehicle.
This car was built as a project by a German university's vehicle design department as a replica of the Type 18A and replicates the same strengthening sections used underneath, to the pillars and under the bonnet. Painted in Satin Ox Blood red with contrasting black and red interior.
Finished to a fantastic standard, fitted with its original 1,200cc engine. Sold fully UK registered with V5, imported to the UK from Germany.
