Description
The first generation M5 set the benchmark for the super saloon class for the next 4 decades. Produced between October 1984 and June 1988 during which time it was the fastest 4 door saloon car in the world. Fitted with the illustrious M88/3 engine also used in the E24 M635 and a tuned version in the M1 supercar.
Just 2,241 M5 models were produced, all handbuilt by BMW M in Germany. This car was originally supplied to Massachusetts in the USA. The US spec cars had subtle differences including catalytic converter as well a double timing chain set up instead of the European single chain. Cosmetic changes including equal sized headlights for the US cars and larger bumpers. All US spec cars are black (Schwartz) with Tan (Natur) leather interior.
This particular example was imported from the USA by its current owner in 2018. It has since been fitted with European spec bumpers and retains its US spec equal sized headlights.
Sold with large history file including US history such as Massachusetts state vehicle inspections (equivalent to UK MOT) and large pile of receipts for servicing by BMW and then BMW specialists including minor and major services including differential and gearbox servicing as well as other maintenance. Also included is original BMW folder with manuals, tape deck cleaner etc.
Showing 161,000 kilometres (100,000 miles) and MOT till July next year.
