The work of Sir Alec Issigonis designed on his original mini platform with a more rugged use in mind aimed at take military business away from Land Rover, obviously there wasn’t a huge uptake in army’s swapping Land Rovers for the little Moke except for the British Navy who took some for use on the decks of aircraft carriers.
The Moke had far more success with civilians with over 14,000 British built Austin Moke sold although less than 10% remained in the UK.
This particular Moke was supplied as a kit from the UK and built in South Africa and comes with the later 1275cc Mini engine and 4 speed manual gearbox, in 4 seat format with the front 2 seats still retaining the original vinyl covers.
Imported from South Africa last year and being registered with the DVLA in December 2020, Being a 1966 vehicle it is tax and MOT exempt.
A well restored Moke now fetches over £20,000 in the UK.
